Internet/E-Mail
Fraud Alert NOTICE: Recently there have been multiple
fraud attempts, known as “phishing”, that were initiated via
email and sent to credit union members. The emails appear to
be from the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). These
false
emails ask you to click on a link which directs you to a false
website and then asks you to verify your credit union account
information such as PIN and account numbers.
NCUA does not ask credit union members for
such personal information through email contact. Anyone who
receives an email that purports to be from NCUA and asks for
account information should consider it to be a fraudulent
attempt to obtain their personal account data for an illegal
purpose and should not follow the instructions in the email.
If you
responded to such an email and provided any confidential account
information, you should change your account's PIN right away.
Please notify KCCU immediately of the scheme.
If you feel
that you have received a fraudulent phishing email purportedly
from NCUA, please forward the entire email message to
phishing@ncua.gov.

IRS name used in phony email and phone scams: The IRS
has issued an alert, warning that the IRS name and logo is being
used by fraudsters attempting to access the taxpayer financial
information through email, phone and text messaging. Note
that the IRS does not ask for personal identifying information
via unsolicited email, phone calls or text messaging. The
scams are being used to trick taxpayers into divulging financial
account information for fraudulent purposes. |
